LE CITRON JAUNE - PORT SAINT LOUIS DU RHÔNE

The Citron Jaune was imagined and built in 1992 by the artists of Ilotopie. Dedicated to experimentation in art, it is a place for mixing disciplines, exchanging “savoir-faires†, sharing the creative process, promoting and innovating urban culture. It is at the same time the companys’ workshops and workspace. Located on the delta of the Rhône, between port industries and the Camargue nature, the Citron Jaune plays his role of “cultural beacon of one end of the world†. It became a National Centre for Street Arts in 2005 and the structure takes now part of a national network which contributes to organise the production, the creation and share art in public space. Engage in developing and promoting a “citizen culture†, the Citron Jaune support artistic works that is concerned with current social issues.

  • Statement of the current project The Citron Jaune, a space designed to welcome invention, innovation and exploration was imagined and built in 1992 in Port-saint-Louis-du-Rhône by the artists of Ilotopie.



    The Citron Jaune is dedicated to experimentation in art. It is a place for mixing disciplines, exchanging “savoir-faires”, sharing the creative process, promoting and innovating urban culture. Being at the same time the companys' workshops and workspace, this permanent cultural structure gives place to multiple vocations, disciplines, room for exchanges and experimentations (artists, researchers, spectators). Located on the delta of the Rhône, between port industries and the Camargue nature, nearby Montpellier, Avignon and Marseille, the Citron Jaune plays his role of “cultural beacon of one end of the world”. It became a National Centre for Street Arts in 2005 and the structure takes now part of a national network which contributes to organise the production, the creation and share art in public space.
