Description
Established in 1985, Haringey Arts Council is the principal agency for arts and creative industries development in the North London area. It is refurbishing a five-floor factory building nearby the Chocolate Factory, to be completed in 2002. The first phase will create the UK’s first Creative Industries Online Centre, and the second phase a post-production multimedia centre. The final phases will provide up to 37 incubator units for new and established creative industry businesses, especially those working in the digital arts. The centre will be linked to others in North East London by microwave, forming a unique Wide Area Network with broadband access to the Web. In addition, the centre will offer spaces for exhibitions, performances, training, workshops and seminars, and a restaurant. The Creatives Online Centre will become a centre of training and business support for high-tech creative industry businesses in North London.
