SEECAN (SOUTH EAST EUROPEAN CONTEMPORARY ART NETWORK)

SEECAN (South East European Contemporary Art Network)

SEECAN (South East European Contemporary Art Network) is a network for artistic exchanges with and within south-east Europe. The purpose of this network is to promote and support the region’s contemporary artists and visual art forms.

The network’s ambition is to strengthen the image of artistic creation in south-east Europe and to bring it onto the international scene, by means of multilateral information, training, distribution and creation projects.

This network was initiated during the forum on artistic exchanges held in Thessaloniki in October 2000, and was given an official status in Sofia on 7 and 8 April 2001. It is composed of a consultative committee of 21 representatives from 20 countries, a co-ordination board, five working groups and an administrative section, handled at least initially by the Apollonia association.
