The Hangzhou Final Declaration - May 2013

The meeting organised by UNESCO from 15 to 17 May, in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, aimed to assess the role of culture in achieving the Millennium Development Goals at the same time as to lay the foundations for the inclusion of a specific goal focused on culture in the post-2015 UN development agenda, thus helping to support heritage, diversity, creativity and the transmission of knowledge.

The Hangzhou Final Declaration - May 2013

This is recognised in the Final Declaration of the Congress, a document which also incorporates participants’ commitment to develop action plans and work to make this a reality. Interarts’ director Mercedes Giovinazzo was one of the experts who participated in the meeting.
