This initiative stems from two facts. First of all, the lack of participation of Spanish cultural centres in European networks and on the other hand, the fact that a database of independent cultural centres hasn’t been set up until now in Spain.

Therefore the main objective of this project is to map independent cultural spaces in Spain, especially the multi-disciplinary kind, and collect relevant information on their management, organisation and programme models with the aim of promoting the exchange of experiences and cooperation between those identified as well as with other like-minded cultural spaces across Europe. Results would be accessible from September 2010 on the project website www.culturaindependiente.com

This nine months project is being managed in collaboration with the European independent cultural centres network Trans Europe Halles and ARTfactories/Autre(s)pARTs. It is backed by a subsidy from the Spanish Agency of International Development Cooperation.
